Part of life is preparing for death, and this includes preparing for life after death.
Some people of the world would say that religion is a crutch for people who fear
death.  Jacob did not fear death.  He was adamant about being buried in the tomb
of his fathers in the land of Canaan.

G-d is a G-d of truth and keeps His promises.  G-d promised to give the land of
Canaan to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, not just to their descendants.  In order to
fulfill this promise He will have to resurrect the patriarchs.  Jacob knew and
believed this.

When the Sadducee's asked Yeshua to prove from the Torah that the dead are
raised Yeshua said, "Have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage
about the burning bush, how G-d spoke to him, saying "I AM the G-d of Abraham,
and the G-d of Isaac, and the G-d of Jacob?"  He is not the G-d of the dead, but of
the living."  Mark 12:25-27.

This sidra also goes over the blessings that Jacob said over each of his sons prior
to his passing into glory.  The words we speak into our children's lives are
powerful.  The words that Jacob spoke over each son produced a picture image
for the tribe which would issue forth from each one.  The words spoken over Judah
included the promise of a King.  Yeshua is often referred to as the Lion of the
Tribe of Judah.  We speak things that are not as though they are.  Watch your
words and choose to bless your children and those around you.  You are blessed
to be a blessing.
