Numbers 19:1-22:1;   Judges 11:1 – 33
John 11-12
Numbers 21:0 states, “And Moses made a bronze serpent and
set it on the standard; and it came about, that if a serpent bit
any man, when he looked to the bronze serpent he lived.”

G-d instructed Moses to make a statue of a fiery serpent and
place it on a standard.  The Hebrew word for standard is nes
which is often translated as miracle.  In the Midrash (Numbers
Rabbah 19:23) the Sages explain that Moses tossed the
serpent in the air where it stayed hovering above the ground
thus causing a miracle.  This is fanciful reading but all things
are possible with G-d.  In John 3:13-14 Yeshua is speaking to
Nicodemus and is leading to His crucifixion and ascension.
Like the serpent He was lifted up so all who looked to Him
might be saved.  When He ascended, He arose and remained
there for all to look to for salvation.  He was lifted up on a nes
or miracle and will return in like manner.  “As Moses lifted up
the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be
lifted up.”
