Bareisheet - In the beginning
Torah - Gen. 1:1-6:8
Haftarah - Isaiah 42:5-43:10
Apostolic Matt. 1,2
As we begin our Torah reading cycle again we stop and contemplate,
where am I?  We all have choices.  The tree of life or the tree of
knowledge of good and evil.  Free choice is an essential part of being
human.  We can choose to be obedient or disobedient.  We choose
multiple times a day.

In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve experienced G-d directly.  They
lived in simplicity and innocence without sin.  G-d walked with them
in the cool of the day.  he was present and revealed.  G-d did not
have to be sought after.

What has happened since then?  Because of sin, man hid himself from
G-d, as he continues to do today.  Yet, G-d continues to call out to us,
"where are you?"  In our rebellious state of self awareness and
self-determination we search not for G-d.  And yet when things go
wrong we ask, "where was G-d?", or place all the blame on Him.

Where are you in your journey with G-d?  Are you aligning yourself
with the Word of G-d?  Are you being a light to the world of darkness?
Is G-d calling out to you, "where are you?"
