The L-rd instructs in Lev. 19:2, "You shall be holy, for I the L-rd your G-d am
holy." So how does a holy person look? They look just like everyone else,
but we expect more from a religious person. We assume that a religious
person will conduct their affairs in concert to their moral values. The Torah
tells us that when a person who claims to be a Christian conducts
themselves without integrity, they profane G-d's name. The word profane is
the exact opposite of holy. Profane means common and ordinary. Holy
means set apart. So when a Christian profanes G-d, he/she makes G-d
look common and ordinary. This damages G-d's reputation and the
Christian's witness. Why would a secular world want to come to an ordinary
G-d? Are you disgracing your witness and giving unbelievers the
opportunity to say, "He is just like us!"
