In this sidra we see the instructions for the sacrifices to be brought to the
Tabernacle after child birth. The act of giving birth is a miraculous
encounter with the Divine. The new born baby is a gift from G-d. The
mother brings a burnt offering and a sin offering as gifts to G-d, in thanks to
whom blessed her with the child.
The offerings were part of the purification process. To come into the
Presence of G-d, all must purify themselves. We have all heard that
cleanliness is next to godliness. We see that throughout the Scriptures that
mankind was always required to consecrate themselves (wash themselves,
wash their clothes) before coming before the L-rd. May be learn from these
lessons and put them into practice. When we come before our L-rd may we
prepare both physically, mentally and spiritually.
