Vayetze - And He Went Out
Torah - Gen. 28:10 - 32:3
Haftarah - Hosea 12:12-14:10
Apostolic: Matt. 15-16

This sidra teaches about family. Gen. 29:30 states, "So Jacob went in
to Rachel also, and indeed he loved Rachel more than Leah, and he
served with Laban for another seven years." After learning that Laban
had tricked Jacob into marriage with Leah, Jacob probably wrestled
with his feelings of being in the wrong place and having just wasted
seven good years of his life. Many of us at one time or another may
find ourselves in jobs, careers, churches, cities etc. that make us feel
far outside of G-d's plans for us. We don't understand how these
things can be happening to us. The story of Jacob reveals that
sometimes G-d places us in situations and places where we can grow,
be blessed and fulfill G-d's purposes. We need to stay focused on
Yeshua and continue to be faithful wherever we find ourselves.
Bloom where you are planted because G-d is in control. Jacob
bloomed where he was planted. He came to Laban with nothing more
than the shirt on his back and came away with herds of goats and
sheep, two wives and the birthing of the nation of Israel. G-d is able
to complete His purposes in less than ideal conditions.
